How we built planna.
Wedding planning is hard. There are a hundred moving parts and most people doing it have never done it before. We are two of them. We are planning our own wedding right now, around full time jobs, and we are building planna in the middle of it.
It is stressful in every way, and it costs more than you think. You lose days waiting for venues to reply. You finally get hold of a caterer and they were booked the whole time. You go to bed not knowing what you have forgotten. We have been lucky to have a wedding planner helping us, and we know not everyone does, but even then it is still long email threads and paperwork done by hand.
At some point we stopped accepting that. Your wedding should not come down to how much admin you can take on, or how big your budget is. So we decided to build the thing we needed. One app that handles the whole administrative side of a wedding.
planna gives you a plan and a clear order of what to do and when. It shows you vendors near you who are actually available and in your budget. It keeps your messages, your documents, your money and your people in one place, so you and your bridal party can work on it together, and so your planner can step in with full visibility instead of a hundred forwarded emails. It is built for the vendors too, who are buried in admin and stretched across every client, and for the planners who have spent years building how they work and should not have to live in their inbox to do it.
We want planna open to a lot of people, but we will not put just anyone in it. Vendors come in through referral and vetting. Proven vendors are featured first, and we will open the door wider as we grow, but quality stays the priority. This is one of the most important days of someone's life. It should only ever be the best.
We are building planna for the wedding we are planning, and for everyone doing this around real jobs and real budgets. That is the whole reason it exists.
